Job Description For Database Administrator Job 2019:

The Database Administrator is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate and client applications. A “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills; perform system administration activities, monitor application performance.



Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
Support the daily business activities by responding within operation level agreements (OLAs) to all support tickets as they occur
Document new requirements, participate in overall design, test and implement new features.
Deploy enhancements and changes on SQL database systems as required
Seek out methods to better handle data and increase system efficiency
Independently analyse, solve, and correct database related issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
Work in a fairly well structured environment where guidelines are clear but procedures are continuing to develop
Ability to provide impact analysis for change requests during projects or for production systems and recommend solutions that reduces risks for both
Ability to manage users’ expectations
Ability to provide solutions and work-arounds to problems

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field
Minimum of 3+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required
Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus
Experience in Oracle database support a plusStrong Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint)
